What is the behaviour of webmail when an email is marked as SPAM?

I have started to use enhance as an email server and noticed that the subject of some emails are changed with a {Spam?} text in the subject and are placed in the JUNK folder is that normal?

This is a good question, because our primary website email just Friday was migrated from a fairly well filtered SmarterMail server to Enhance, and quite surprisingly the spam filtering has improved.

What I've seen so far though is that there is very little in the junk folder when it was overflowing on SmarterMail. My own email address (we're talking about a domain that's been registered since 1997 when nobody had heard about spam) gets hundreds of spam emails a day. Since the move only 10 total, and none of them are spam, just false positives.

My mailbox is set to the default spam filtering (5) and the Deliverability is set to Deliver so I should be seeing spam pile up in the junk folder but no...

I believe (please do correct me if wrong as I've not spent time digging and made assumptions) that in /var/local/enhance/email/data/spamcd/ and global_spam_conf.json the reject value is set at the server level to reject emails irrespective of user mailbox spam choices, the add_header in there is the default user-level "mark or reject as spam" threshold and the user specific thesholds are set in service_settings.json. So I would expect you are seeing everything <5 in your inbox, everything >5 but <15 in your junk and everything else >= 15 rejected by the server irrespective?

A few things I encountered:

1.
There was an issue a few months ago, where an email that was identified as spam, and had the X-Spam/X-Spam-Flag header added, wasn't being moved to the Junk folder. That was fixed a few releases back, now it works.

2.
I also noticed that adding an email address to the email whitelist (in the panel UI) doesn't work 100% of the times, having some of the whitelisted emails still going to spam. Adam told me they were looking into that. Still not fixed.

I found some files at /var/local/enhance/email/mailboxes/sieve/global

I always wondered how do they work. If they have something to do with teaching rspamd about spam behavior or maybe they are something not implemented all the way.
