E-Mail Migration Module

The module enables the migration of email messages from one mailbox to another based on IMAP data. It also supports migration from another server.

This is how it works:

Select what kind of source and target account you are using (IMAP, Zimbra, Exchange, etc.)
Enter the required data in the respective fields (servername, E-Mail address, password, etc, for source and target)
Select a start date for the migration, optionally, select a resyncdate
Submit the form - if all data are correct, the migration job will be created and securely transferred to one of our migration servers
At the selected time, the migration will start, and your email messages will be transferred
When the initial migration is complete, and if you have selected a resync date, the resync migration will start at the date you selected
When the initial migration and the optional resync migration are done, the migration has finished and your messages have been transferred

I have posted elsewhere about setting up imapsync in docker for this for both command-line AND web interface usage. We have used that tool for so long... but one thing I do miss from Plesk is the mail migration tool. This DID make it easier, since you could stay in one interface.

One reason I like/prefer impasync is that we can setup a migration file, and do the mail sync as many times as required to obtain all the emails. This is true for customer email boxes moving onto our servers AND migrations of customers to other platforms such as Outlook, Gmail, Zoho... Set the script, fire off and it just works.

I know that Giles is working toward a web interface that mimics the command-line stuff, where you can setup multiple mailbox migrations at once from the web interface. Now, THAT, will be a game changer for us, because we can use our system, or for customers who are touchy about passwords, spin up a one-off for them to handle the migration...

I do think that a basic IMAPsync-like system in enhance would be awesome.

You mean like the gui in the imapsync docker image but prettier and they can enter in multiple mailboxes with their login info instead of sharing with you?

Seems like an "easy" features for enhance to add so customers can click a "Migrate Emails" type button and it simply asks for login info that's passed to imapsync script. No need to reinvent the wheel when imapsync has been perfected over many years. Could even have an option to sync new emails until DNS changes have propogated.

Exactly. The email migrator should be integrated into the Enhance panel. There are often issues with migrating large email accounts, and having such a migrator would ensure peace of mind for users.

Yes, just that additional extension. It's known that it can be done better; it's more about functionality.
