Currently we have a few clients that have purchased a domain name without any hosting packages. However In order for us to give them access to DNS management we have created a 1MB package that in theory should limit their hosting.

This is not good solution because of:

  1. For each website a container is created, which adds some overhead to the whole system. This can be mitigated by allowing one website and unlimited addons, but empty container for just DNS management sounds wrong to me.
  2. Each website is added to "used websites" and provider should pay additional to Enhance. It's not a huge deal for a couple domains, but if they become 100s then it will make a difference.
  1. In an upcoming update there will be an option to create a website without the PHP container (for static websites primarily).

  2. The only way around that would be to create the domains as addon domains but that won't work if you are giving the customer access.

Adam Thank you. We have a number of customers with DNS only packages on our other platforms, and I would love to move them over to Enhance. We currently have a package setup with very low resources, no application installer, zero MySQL DB, and one email box to mimic this option.

This sounds like Parked Domains in other panels. Ideally would redirect to static page saying website coming soon?

MediaLabz Well, it could. But for us, we have a number of clients that host DNS with us, though typically with our Amazon Route 53 setup. So a DNS only package - perhaps with one email (though most use other mail options) is perfect.

DNS only packages would be great for WHMCS. We resell domains through namesilo integrated with WHMCS. However, there is no way to give the customer access to edit DNS when using namesilo's Nameservers. With enhance we could allow them to login to their WHMCS billing account and bounce over to the enhance CP to edit DNS. We have plenty of clients that don't need a website hosting package.

I would add that it would be great if DNS only packages didn't count as a billable website with enhance. For most domains we only make about 1 dollar month so any added fees for DNS only plans would make it a non starter for us.

I like this panel, I am used to cpanel zone manager.
I know its not the best practice but I want be able to add and edit zones,
Many places give free dns stuff.

If I am missing a button sorry, So far looks great.

      Thanks,
      Mike

Opps I found the button. add zone and edit zone, but because dns is pointing elsewhere,
for a domain the edit screen does not show up? Im going to try removing and just add zone.
      Thanks

Ok the button I found was add a zone to the dns template not what I was looking for.
I will be looking forward to this feature.

+1 for DNS Only - And the ability to import zone file would be good that's probably the last thing we are using cPanel for is reverse DNS for IP ranges.

+1 for mail only package (without php AND static web)
