It would be good if this tool also did some basic 'best practices' checks as advisories

Whats ports are open or if the firewall is running
Is root with password enabled
On servers with low memory, does it not have any swap enabled
A newer stable 'recommended' release of Ubuntu is available, ie those on 22.04
If the '/var/enhance_container_images' directory still exists and if it can be deleted
Is docker running with no other instances in it, an indication it could be removed

On top, if the script could

Identify common problems that are not just errors, ie Large Logs or system files that are not rotating
Scan for running services that are known to conflict or that should be running that aren't
Quick look through the log for crashing services

Not expecting 'fixes' for each of these items, but if it could give an advisory and each point get linked back to a documentation page with more information, that would be excellent.

I would also love to see features to check DNS settings for emails like if the SPF have min. the server that are used included, double entries or a clean up for entries from the old panel. Possibility for automatic DMARC settings ( I setup them that I get all at one email, if they don't use a own email).

Also it could be a open source solution like Zabbix included to see the used resources in the past. There is no point to create everything new and it would be great to spin up a new server just with this included.

A cleanup service for broken backups or server movements.

And show where a customer use the most space at the disk. We can see it of course, but for customers is this too difficult.

Agree, cPanel does this well to give green ticks in the users cPanel email settings to confirm the spf and dkim is correct. If such a diagnostic tool could pair this with checking the email routing (local vs remote) against the actual authoritative name servers, that would be powerful

Not sure if a general diagnostic script is the best place for it, but an important feature and report to have non of the less.
DMARC is a beast of its own, especially if wanting a monitoring panel built in that tracks the responses.
