Manage PECL Packages [LOGGED]

Install, upgrade, and uninstall PECL packages from the Enhance panel.
I know that soon there will be: V1 PHP extension manager per website. Perhaps in V2?

The PHP extension manager lets you enable/disable modules that we have pre-compiled and distributed in the PHP .deb packages. We will be adding to this list. Any requests are welcome.

Support for pecl and building of custom extensions will be possible in the distant future, maybe towards the end of the year.

We have quite a few apps that require or recommend bz2 so that would be a priority package to add IMO.

John-P Global installation is a planned feature. You can install the module on a per site basis by:

On the server which hosts the website which you would like to add the module to, run:

 apt update

 apt install make gcc g++ autoconf

 /opt/ecp-php81/bin/pecl install nameofmodule

*Replace php81 with the version of PHP you are using
*Replace nameofmodule with the module you would like to install

On the website you would like to enable the module on visit developer tools and add a directive in the php.ini editor called “extension” with the value “nameofmodule”

You can almost certainly build it from the php source and copy it to the extension dir - it will then be selectable by customers in their UI.

We may bundle additional modules in the future.

but then every time you update php packages I need to recompile everything jusst for an additional module.

Wouldn't it be easier if you include sysvsem in your normal builds ?

Just for you to know, nextcloud asks for that module.
Not mandatory, just suggested.

You would only need to build it once unless you change the major version of PHP (ie. PHP 8.4 to 8.5). You're right we can probably just ship the module with Enhance, watch this space 🙂
