We've encountered something this weekend which we'd like to know how others would approach this and I couldn't find any obvious other reports here.
Our example is that user has xGB of space and is using 80% of that. The databases take 40% or so. When the backup task runs it fails as he runs out of disk space when Enhance tries to backup the databases to his home directory. We've seen the task leave the remnants there too meaning it causes secondary issues.
We raised with Enhance who advised this is expected because the backups run as the user and offering a solution in increasing the users disk.
I don't think that is a workable solution. Customers pay for a plan which is likely linked to a billing system and then the package in Enhance. Asking them to pay more for a basic function they expect to just work as was the case with cPanel before it isn't likely to go down well.
A comment was made to stream the data from the server to the backup server which I would have assumed was already the case, although, i'd say this needs to be over SSL (something PMA seems to be missing right now but that's a different issue).
So what are the options, increase their package on Enhance but not on the Billing side, which then creates a mismatch. Increase the package allowance for all (but this then only delays it occurring again when they use more space) and could be never ending.
It may be that many are not aware of this issue and only find out when they import a user from cPanel or another panel to notice the limitation so hopefully this makes it a talking point and increases the severity so the Enhance team can change or improve this quicker.
