Update staging domain?

If i were to update the "staging" domain while there active staging websites in the cluster.
What would happen?

Will it attempt to modify all of the existing staging sites?
Will it only apply to new staging sites?
What will happen to the DNS side of things?

@Adam ill just tag you then and ask 🙂 cause im thinking of making a separate domain for staging - but i currently have a subdomain associated with it.

It just applies to new staging websites, existing sites aren't affected.
