I've noticed in the planned road map: 'Support for other Linux distributions.' Therefore, my suggestion is to include support for AlmaLinux. Currently, we are using Ubuntu, so I don't think it makes sense to support Debian, for example. Instead, focusing on two distinct systems—Ubuntu and AlmaLinux—would be beneficial. There are still many supporters of AlmaLinux, especially in server environments. AlmaLinux offers very long-term support.

Hopefully they only have Ubuntu, the more you add the more time it takes to test and patch multiple package variations and distro versions. If they have the resources to provide support for an additional distro, RHEL compatible should cover the variants based on it.

ecknz Agree, one of the shortfalls of cPanel and many other projects.
The more operating systems, the more sets of documentation, scripts, development and testing that has to be done for both the core product and all its addons.

AlmaLinux would be nice to have a RHEL like option and not need to worry about OS upgrades but imo there are plenty of low hanging fruit that needs to be picked by the dev team as a higher priority.

I agree, which is why my suggestion is to support only Ubuntu and AlmaLinux, unlike most other management panels that support a dozen OSes.

At this point, I would prefer the 2024 road-map to be completed prior to focusing on another Linux Distro.

I realize Linux Distros are often a source of contention. I have hosted on both RH derivatives as well as on Deb variants. I actually prefer Ubuntu over RH, but again that is an opinion.

The reason I would prefer the road-map be completed on the existing platform is so that the maximum amount of dev-time can be focused on bringing Enhance feature set to a more complete and robust option.

We currently have devs who love Enhance, but patience is wearing a bit thin on some things that are just mind-numbingly difficult (i.e. get the logs into the interface for both admins and resellers/end-users; mail - which is coming in days; The simple ability to see all of the DNS records at a time, and not have to scroll up and down and side to side etc...)

So, I for one, am not in favor of alternative Linux Distros until such time as many of the promised road-map for 2024 are finalized.

8Dweb That's how it will be, since support for other Linux distributions is still outside the roadmap but is planned for the future.

I dont see this being a good use of time within the next two years. I'd wait until the roadmap is worked out and the product is more mature before posting and then it might get traction.
