Update Enhance Control Panel to the latest stable version of PHP v8.3.8

Enhance Control Panel currently has the installed version of PHP v8.3.6 which was released on April 11, 2024.

In the meantime, on 09 May 2024, version of PHP v8.3.7 was released and on 06 June 2024, version 8.3.8 was released and both of these last two releases and updates of PHP (PHP v8.3.7 and PHP v8. 3.8) include many bug fixes as you can check at this official link for PHP v8.3.x releases:

For this reason I ask you to kindly update PHP v8.3.6 which is currently supplied with Enhance Control Panel and which is now an old version released more than three months ago on 11 April 2024 with the most recent and stable version of PHP v8 .3.8 released about 23 days ago and that is the PHP version v8.3.8

As always, thank you in advance for your precious support and congratulations again for the continuous updates that you are rapidly releasing for the Enhance Control Panel which in my opinion is already the best Control Panel available today and which I am sure will continue to improve more and more with unique, high-performance and increasingly innovative features and all at a super affordable price, thank you.

In the meantime, on July 4, 2024 a new version of PHP has already released and to be precise, PHP V8.3.9 has been released and also the latter version corrects many bugs as you can see from the link below the official PHP Changelog:

For this reason I ask you to kindly update PHP v8.3.6 which is currently supplied with Enhance Control Panel and which is now an old version released more than four months ago on 11 April 2024 with the most recent and stable version of PHP v8.3.9 released about 12 days ago and that is the PHP version v8.3.9

There are new PHP packages in the next appcd release this week. It's quite a big change as you will now be able to update PHP directly using apt. We've also made it much easier to compile custom extensions.

Hello to avoid making mistakes and also because this will be useful to many users, you can kindly respond by indicating all the steps to update the PHP via the command line and/or the "apt" command ?

Adam It's quite a big change as you will now be able to update PHP directly using apt.

Can we update php on the servers now using apt? I need to update one of our clients servers PHP version from 8.2.21 to the latest 8.2.24 so they can pass a PCI compliance check.

I ran the following but it installed the same 8.2.21 version

apt install --reinstall appcd ecp-php82

MarkD I think enhance needs to release the updated packages first before you can upgrade because we pull them from them through apt.

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/enhance.list
deb [arch=amd64, signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/enhance.gpg] https://apt.enhance.com jammy main

I hope in the future this will be an automated process, eg, php releases new version, enhance system sees this, builds the new version and publishes it (when there are no errors during the build process), on apt for our systems to download.

And also le us chose the exact version to use, like PHP 8.1.0.4 (for eg)

This will depend on them keeping the old packages in the repo or not, as far as I can see (by a google search), you can pick your own version of a package if it is available, but need to check yourself for conflicts in required packages. But I can't see a use case where you would want php 8.2.15 if the latest version is 8.2.24... (for example).
