Can I change the root password of a VPS that is being used by multiple websites with roles in app, database, and email services without affecting any service? If I make the change, do I need to do anything in the control panel?
Yes you can change this. No action needed in the panel.
BUT why are you still using passwords? Best practise is to disable password authentication all together and also disable the root user.
