Screenshot Improvements

For screenshots, I would expect it to only show the screen shot for the site on the local server.

This week we've seen it pull screenshots for a domain when the site isn't pointing to us yet, giving a view of the site on the old server (non Enhance).

Also, we've seen that where the site has a redirect, it then follows that content. (customer has a redirect to Ebay and the screenshot was of the ebay shop/URL).

Wonder what others think should be the case? I'd only expect to see the image from the domain on our server and not any remote one before it moved over and likewise, not following any redirect.

Assuming the redirect is something in .htaccess and/or similar and not done via meta tags, I would expect to see eBay, otherwise we would be seeing a blank page, right?

I personally prefer the screenshot service taking a screenshot of the live domain (whether or not it's on the Enhance cluster) simply because your clients can see a potential problem should one arise (such as linking to ebay or a site take-over).

If the screenshot service always took a screenshot locally, the client would never ever see a problem. Just my few pennies.

ss88us I agree. Screenshot should be exactly what someone who goes to that domain would see after pageload. If its a shitty redirect done via JS at load time or htaccess the result should still be a screenshot of the end result as if I loaded it in the browser.

The only setting I would like to see would be a cache busting option to avoid seeing cloudflare cached response.

We can possibly make this behaviour a configurable setting in future.

I have to agree on this:

Screenshot should be exactly what someone who goes to that domain would see after pageload.

I think this will be variable as we had a customer querying why this was not showing what the server was seeing for the local install.

Having the option to change as needed is likely going to be the best outcome.
