Email Server RAM/CPU for 50 Users

Hi,

From your own experience running email servers in Enhance, how much +/- CPU and RAM will an e-mail server need to handle 50 email boxes, with the following average daily usage:

Half the users will use the Roundcube webmail during the day working hours (8 hours/day).
All the users will have the email account setup on their desktop computer, using IMAP with a 5 minute sync.
All the users will have the email account setup on their phone, using IMAP with a 5 minute sync.
Daily email volume for each email account, will be no more than 300 emails in + 300 emails out.

I’m thinking on getting a VPS with a SSD disk, 2vCPU and 4GB RAM. Do not know if is enough to handle the usage including having rspamd running.

Any opinion or advice?

It’s really hard to say. But, most VPS providers allow you so scale up very easily. You could start smaller (at least 2vCPU and 4gb ram) and go from there.

Email services are incredibly light, your 2x4 should handle the load easily, assuming it's a normal amount of email traffic and not +million emails per day.

1vcpu, 2GB ram should be plenty and what I run.
Looking at one mail serve I'm running with 50 users, 3% cpu usage and 306MB in use.

Set some alerts on it if resources are hit. You are spoiling it with SSD's. Back in the old days we were running mail servers with under 128mb of ram!
