How is backup frequency per site determined?

You can set this under settings->service->backup. The most important setting is "minimum backup age". For example if this is set to 12 hours, a site will be backed up if it hasn't had a backup in at least 12 hours. Normally this will result in 2 backups per 24 hours unless your server load is very high.

A bit off topic.

Is it possible to delete all backups on the backup server and start over?
I'm having a issue with my backup server. I'm not sure if backups are "damaged". Backup partition is very slow, du -h takes lots of time, lots of files have 0 kb, Io wait is very high.
OS disk is perfectly normal.
This is when a backup is running.
Can this be hardware failure?
Of course yes, I know.
Should I try some filesystem repair first?
Maybe.

Any ideas?

Yes, just mark the backup server as decommissioned. Then use "move server" to migrate the backup role to your new backup server.

Well, I decommissioned the server. Then I reinstalled it again (same server, same name, same IPs) and added it to Enhance cluster.
Now it doesn't show on the cluster. Maybe because it's the same machine.

@Adam what do I do? Reinstall the server again, give it a different name and add it to enhance cluster? Or this issue is because it's the same IP addresses?

I can't delete the current one because it has websites with it...

Yesterday I was really busy and time flew. Sorry... It wasn't my intention.
My short answer was just to let you guys know I had find a way already, so you wouldn't waste your time with this.

I ended up installing a new server, added it to the cluster, moved backups to it - backups that didn't existed anymore, of course - and then I was able to delete the old server and add it again, moving backups to it again.
It started creating new backups right away.
