Disable Smart Host

Hi everyone,
I'm running a cluster where all servers were previously using a smart host (mail.baby) to send emails. Today, I need to exclude one server from this setup so that it sends emails independently, without routing through mail.baby.

However, despite removing the smart host configuration from this server, it still keeps sending emails via mail.baby. Has anyone encountered this issue or have any advice on how to ensure emails bypass the smart host? Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, we’ve noticed this issue on some servers too. If you're using cPFence, you can simply run cpfence --disable-global-smtp to disable global SMTP, which might fix the issue.

If you're not using cPFence, try editing /etc/postfix/main.cf with nano to remove the relayhost settings at the bottom of the file, then run the following commands:

sudo rm /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd
sudo rm /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd.db  # Remove hashed file
systemctl restart postfix

cPFence does cpfence --disable-global-smtp disable default phpmail functionality? sometimes client doesn't need smtp setup in wordpress so phpmail can still send error mails or other system generated emails which as a host we don't want..

This will only attempt to remove relayhost settings, similar to what Enhance does, and doesn’t affect other server settings. We use this command for internal purposes, and it should only be used if, for some reason, Enhance didn’t disable the relayhost settings.
