wav3front Interesting per docs it doesn't work for me either... I tried one of the user PHP pids as route, triggered a webpage reload and saw files being accessed etc..

@Rich I did a mistake. I have so many servers running that I can't keep track 😃

This website was running on a VM (Proxmox) with 8 X 7950X CPU cores. When I noticed the CPU load, I decided to give an extra 8 cores, so now it runs in 16 x 7950X CPU cores in total.

I did the change a few hours ago, and there hasn't been a freeze since then. It's too early to know for sure, but it may be that MariaDB simply could not keep up with the load of the badly written Oxy Classifieds queries. (I cannot wait to migrate from this abomination of a "script")

This has grown to be interesting thread.

Still though, there should be SOME error about it.

Rich I'm always baffled about tuning databases. Mainly because it's actually difficult to make real, acurate, "scientific" tests to actually know how each parameter changes things, to better or worse.

About innodb_buffer_pool_size, I also thought that you simply give us much as possible, until I run Releem on a very busy server and one of their recommendations was to actually descruase innodb_buffer_pool_size.

Again, I (personaly) have no way to actually measure -properly- each change on my.cnf.

wav3front What I did recently as a way to "test" for what it's worth was to use the WP Benchmark tool and it was very clear my DB was massively under performing, so kept tuning until it was a much, much better score. There DB import function shouldn't be taking over a minute and it was. That was my first indicator, beyond the slow score of course.

I agree I find DB tuning more of a dark art than a science driven process. I've been doing it for over a decade and it isn't any easier. (thankfully not needed to be done so often) I didn't like Releem so much, I just used mysqltuner to give me some extra feedback. These tools are better when the server has had some time to run and bed in with the config changes.

Fingers crossed you're able to smooth out the issues with Oxy, legacy code will just continue to be a problem. I had a Duplicator pro backup of a clients site that's almost 2000 days old, and it won't even extract on to modern enhance setup. I needed a mysql 5.6 db and like php 7.2 before I can even get it to attempt to extract and then it's still full of problems as the DB standards have changed so much.

Rich thats one of the things cpanel finally did right. They added a version of mysqltuner right in the panel, it analyzes the load of the server and its specific needs, then gives suggested tweaks to mysql config, you can just go down the line and approve whatever suggestions you agree with and then save it and the tool loads the new config and restarts the db.

Its suggestions are usually spot on too.

Hopefully we get something like that down the road for enhance, be a big help to less experienced users. I suggested it a while back, but I realize it's such a luxury item, maybe it happens in the next 5 years lol
