Smart host - What do you recommend?

Hi, unfortunately, my emails are often blocked, for example by outlook.com. I'm looking for a good, reliable smart host that is also cost-effective. What do you recommend?

Although I’ve seen many people using Mail.baby without issues, we didn’t have much luck with them. Our emails were still getting blocked. Now, we manage our own smart host, and when an IP gets banned, we simply switch it. Enhance’s smart host and Cloud features make managing this much easier compared to old-fashioned control panels like cPanel or DirectAdmin.

Mailbaby works well and is very cheap.

mendozal, yes, I have used Mail Baby in the past, and I have never had an issue with the service itself. There was a small issue when Gmail and Yahoo implemented new measures, and SRS wasn't on by default in Enhance, so emails being forwarded were being blocked.

I have been testing proxmox mail gateway as a self hosted solution, and it looks promising.
If you know what you doing it can be setup relatively fast for outbound only. (did not test or care about incoming emails.)

It has the tools enhance missing, like reporting and tracking, also UI makes a huge difference instead of reading a postfix log in VI or NANO 🙂

How did you configure Enhance to sent email through PMG?

There is a problem with this. For some reason proxmox Mail Gateway does not sign the dkim key when using smarthost. Unless you have managed to solve this?

i did manage to solve it, but it was not me who did the solving, instead Maxihost did (anthony) credits to him

i am a bit sick atm but will post everything in a tutorial as soon as i get a bit better 🙂

to send via PMG as a smath host you go to server/email settings and you can setup each server individually smart host settings. (i do not like global smarthost settings instead i prefer granular/server settings)

We're using AWS SES, and so far so good.

MXroute is pretty good, have not had any issues delivering email to the likes of live, hotmail, icloud, gmail etc
they had some good Black Friday 3 year plans (still listed) https://accounts.mxroute.com/index.php?/cart/black-friday-2024/

The panel used for the plans is DA with SpamAssassin, it will do until Enhance improves the email role.

One issue I have had was PayPal payment emails going to junk for a bit, that may just be in Betterbird/Thunderbird.
I have not tested in Outlook 2024 LTSC or other email clients as DA has some weird connection issues at times when setting up accounts.

+1 for Mailbaby - It's been a great service, and easy to set up with Enhance and super cheap!
