Is enhance MYSQL good for production?

I'm currently using EC2 and RDS for my setup because I don’t want to risk my production database. However, I don’t have much knowledge about databases and don’t have the time to manage everything myself.

That said, the high costs are becoming a concern.

I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with Enhance MySQL v8—is it reliable enough for a production workload? Also, are there any alternative approaches I should consider to optimize or migrate my current setup?

Yes mysql works well in Enhance but weaker performance than mariadb. I recommend an additional server from another reliable provider, set backups role e.g. every 1 hour and your database will be considered safe.

Is there any simple way to replace the mysql with mariadb on the current server with live clients?

EC2 has garbage performance. You'll get better performance with a different provider.

Mysql is Mysql.
Reliability will come down to your provider.

I haven't had any issues with Enhance's implementation of it, however it can do with a good manual optimisation and 3rd party backup solution.

Will echo what has been said, EC2 at the lower levels is nothing special.
