Of course, an update. Enhance does not yet have a migration tool that could automate this process. However, this year I plan to set up a fresh server on V12 and transfer the websites from the old one-supposedly, in version 12.1.0, this will be much easier.

If there is a way to migrate the current control panel settings and data to a new control panel and add the current backup role to the new cluster, I would prefer a fresh install.

Yeah this isn't like upgrading from Windows 8 to windows 10 lol. This is linux software written by good developers. Fresh install is a waste of time.

Honestly I don't want a panel that can't handle its own updates lol especially if stability is a major selling point.

To be honest, we’re playing it safe too. We’ve got a test cluster prepped and ready for the brave first move as soon as v12 drops. Our team will be all over it, making sure cPFence adapts smoothly. But for production servers? we’ll let the dust settle for a few days before taking the plunge. No one wants to be the first penguin in the water if there’s a shark lurking off the coast! 🙂

I would prefer a fresh installation, but I am concerned about the mail servers. Alternatively, I might upgrade when version 12.0.1 is released.

Do we really think that the v11 to v12 upgrade is so tedious og complicated that people want to do fresh install and migrate instead? If so, thats a bit worrying and not really a viable option for those with hundreds or thousands of clients.

Helix Exactly. Migration can be a nightmare especially when you have a large number of sites in your cluster. But we have trust in the Enhance team, so there’s no need to worry. They did it in the past, and I believe they will do so again.

I think there will be no need to migrate entire cluster and just wait for couple of days after the release if you have large cluster or you're hosting mission critical client websites, let others test it first (seriously, not joking or mocking) and see if any bugs are there, let enhance team address those and then upgrade to like v12.0.1 or something....

I will be the guinea pig. My cluster is non-critical and practically hosts 2 websites. The only thing that might delay the update is my schedule.

If the update fails, I'll do a fresh install. Hell, I might do a fresh install even if the update goes well.

I think it is due extensive CTRL + F5 from clients 🙂
