Enabling Apache Modules

Greetings....

I've searched the docs and forums but not found an answer.... How do we go about enabling modules that are shipped with Apache, but not enabled? Specifically, I'm trying to enable: mod_cgid so that perl cgi scripts will run on one of our servers...

To enable the module in v12:

nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

# Add this line under the existing LoadModule lines
LoadModule cgid_module modules/mod_cgid.so

# Restart Apache
systemctl restart apache2.service

# Verify that the module is loaded
apachectl -M | grep cgid

I think you can just enable it in your apache conf, something like this:

LoadModule cgid_module

Then restart apache.

I still use the mod-security editor in the UI to make my apache configs, so they persist through updates. IDK if that's necessary in v12, but that's where I would try it first.

For others reading this thread, Enhance ships with a number of Apache modules, but a number of them are available for enabling (if you wish, since they are not automatically enabled). See the list Enhance provides in their documentation here

Thanks so much for the replies... It sounds like I'm going to like v12 better than v11.... For now we are on V11...

I tried directly editing: /var/local/enhance/containers/ID/ID/merged/var/lib/docker/overlay2/ID/diff/usr/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf

and uncommenting out the Loadmodule line for the cgid module, adding an +ExecCGI to the root directory

I also tried the same editing /var/local/enhance/apache/httpd.conf adding the module and /var/local/enhance/apache/vhost_includes/domain.conf adding the handler and +ExecCGI directives

Both times restarting via the server > application > graceful restart option.... with no luck. I can't seem to locate the correct file to edit and none of the apache2 system commands are working on V11....

Anyone know how to get this right on V11?

Ajar I told you in my comment, use mod security config in the panel settings, it's right in the gui. I don't use mod security, I only enable it so I can put my apache config in there (I delete everything in it, except my apache config). Look at old forum posts, there's many that cover this.
