Hi,
I'm no longer struggling with storage requirements on my 35GB control panel server, and with Docker no longer being required, the 40GB minimum may also be reduced.
How much storage would be required for a DNS-only server? - There are some great offers at the moment on LowEndTalk (I strongly recommend Hostbrr!), and I was wondering if I could get away with 25GB for a DNS-only server. I don't expect to serve more than 100 websites.
Thanks in advance.

i would go to 30 GB minimum, more if possible, Reason for it is , my NS servers are using @33GB at this point in time.

    I'm using 17GB on a v12 DNS Server

The Powerdns config is just simple .db files being pushed by the control panel, being like 1-5KB per zone. So hosting a million sites would be like 1-5GB. The bare V12 install with DNS role is like 9GB.

Probably the memory would be the first bottleneck, but a 25GB VPS with 2GB RAM should be able to handle a lot with just the DNS role.

    Docker removed?

    systemctl stop docker
    apt remove docker-ce
    rm -rf /var/lib/docker

If so, then there seems to be something on your DNS servers that is taking up a lot of disk space.

My DNS only servers only use about 10GB/15GB of storage usage with v12 and minimal install of Ubuntu 24.04.
