WordPress forms not sending emails – do I need to enable the Email role?

Hi,
I have a server running Enhance and WordPress sites can submit forms, but the emails never arrive at the destination mailbox. There is no error in WordPress, the form shows a successful submission, but nothing is delivered.

I noticed that my server does not have the Email role enabled.
Before enabling it, I would like to clarify:

Is the Email role required for outbound mail from PHP/WordPress (e.g., contact forms)?

Does Enhance block or prevent mail delivery if the Email role is not active?

Could this be the reason why WordPress forms appear to send but no messages are actually delivered?

I just want to confirm whether I must enable the Email role, even if I do not want to host mailboxes on this server.

Hi,

You do not need Mail role enable to send emails from WordPress websites. But you need to setup the external email relay on the panel settings. (after you set the global relay, go to each server and just save it again, i had that issue before).

Make sure SPF is setup properly. Also try to install a SMTP plugin and send a test email using PHPMail method.

Maybe the issue is with your FROM not being equal to the email.

You're probably 5 or 6 steps away from this working properly.

If wordpress uses Phpmail() without configuration, it will probably never make it through proper spam filters anyways.
If the server has no email role, who sends it?
Can the server actually communicate outwards via port 25/465/587? Most VPS providers block this....
If the server actually sends the email, is it automatically being filtered by email providers because of IP reputation?
Do you have proper SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up for the domain?
If you end up using a SMTP smarthost, do you have everything set up as per their instructions?
