Deleting the only one backup role

Hello, I'm trying to delete my only backup role server, but I'm not allowed to do so because it says there is a website on it (correctly). Is there any way to force it without flagging the server as decommissioned?
I don't want to decommision it because it may come back again later in the next year and from what i've read you can't readd a decommisioned server with the same IP without asking for support.
I also tried to remove the backup permission from the package of the only one website using it, without luck.
Is there any way to force the removal of this server, without adding a new backup role server first to move the website on it?

The ability to uninstall a backup role is on the roadmap, but it isn’t implemented yet. You can use the api to delete the existing backups, or delete the snapshots directly on the backup server if you’re confident doing it, then move the backup role to a new server.

Also, as far as we know, you can re-add a decommissioned server with the same IP address if it has been completely removed from the enhance control panel after decommissioning. However, it’s best to confirm this with the Enhance support team first.

I had the same issue a couple months ago and I opened a support ticket and they did it for me.
But indeed, there's no native solution to "remove" the backup server role with 1 click, just yet.

So in case you're not planning to use it right now, open a support ticket and ask for some help!
Adam did it for me, but he explained it's not recommended and viable to enable and disable the backup role. Once enabled, it's best to keep it enabled.

cPFence So the "1 website using this backup server" is only based on the snapshot folder on the filesystem? If I remove the backup snapshot folder (easy as is the only website on that backup server) it should go away?
I thought it was based on something saved in enhance db (where is it anyway?)

Also I wanted to ask you something about cpfence without opening an useless ticket. Does cpfence integrates a daily access log rotation in any way? Or should I keep using https://github.com/SharedGrid/enhance-log-mirror

No, it’s not purely based on the filesystem. You need to delete the backup snapshots and then, in the Enhance control panel, select the site and move its backup role to a new server. After that, you can delete the backup role from the old server.

As for cPFence, yes, we have the LogSpot module for log rotation and retention. You can read about it on the cPFence blog.

cPFence I activated logspot already, but it doesn't make access logs by days (ie. access_log_2025-12-08.log) unless I missed something...

About the backup, the problem is that I don't have another backup role where to move the website on. I need to keep it without backup for some time. I made a mistake adding it before time. I don't need a backup server right now, is only a test website.

Yes, correct. Daily access log files are already on our roadmap and will be added soon.

For the backup issue, move the site’s backup role to another server, like the main CP for example, and then use the overrides feature to disable backups for that specific site. That will leave you with an empty backup role and you can remove the original backup server.

cPFence Ok so right now cpFence doesn't have daily rotated log names. I'll wait for this new feature, in the meantime I'll use the SharedGrid script.

Yeah, I didn't want to add useless roles to the main cp server. I wanted to keep it clean with only the CP master role on it.
