.htaccess redirect rules for OLS work, they just have to be put in the right place in the right file. Either by Enhance applying a fix, or by copying them yourself to the website-root .htaccess file, or using a script that does that automatically.
For other, more complex rules that might not work with OLS, I agree, this would make a nice addition.
