Hi
I had a serious problem last night—the RAM modules on the server failed.
I had to wait for remote hands, and that took a while...
I had already considered migrating the websites to another server, but I ran into a problem.
I have backups of the websites on a separate server that was still operational. Unfortunately, I couldn't migrate the websites to another server because the one that had failed wasn't marked as “decommissioned.”
"Data migration failure: internal: Could not connect to https://11.92.81.331:50000"
I didn't want to mark the server that had failed as “decommissioned” because I knew it would be repaired in due time and I would migrate those sites back to the original server.
My point is that if a server that has failed has backups on another server, Enhance CP should allow for the migration of websites to another functioning server using those backups without marking the failed server as decommissioned, since this action is irreversible.
I see two solutions:
- The ability to mark servers as “decommissioned” and then restore them without removing them from the CP. In my case, the RAM modules were replaced and the server came back online.
- Migrating websites from a server, even if it is offline, provided there are backups on another server that is operational.
@Adam what do you think about that?
In this case, it would make it much easier for me to recover my clients' websites.
What do other forum users think about this?
