Hi team,
We are using Enhance to host modern applications and APIs, and we are facing a product positioning and UX limitation when selling and provisioning Node.js workloads.
The Problem:
Currently, even when a customer only needs a Node.js runtime, the website/container UI still exposes PHP version selectors, PHP extensions, and PHP-related management tools.
From an architectural standpoint, we understand that Enhance uses a unified container base image where PHP binaries reside passively without overhead if unused. However, from a commercial and UX standpoint, this degrades the product value:
- Selling a dedicated Node.js service where the customer sees PHP everywhere makes the product look like a legacy cPanel-style shared hosting workaround rather than a modern PaaS/container platform.
- It confuses developers who only expect Node-related controls, process management, reverse proxy settings, and environment variables.
The Solution / Feature Request:
We would like the ability to define a Runtime Profile or toggle within Packages:
- Runtime Type Selector: Allow a package to be defined as "Node.js Only" (or "PHP Only" / "Full Stack").
- Clean UI Abstraction: When "Node.js Only" is enabled for a package:
- Completely strip out PHP settings, PHP version pickers, and PHP modules from the end-user dashboard.
- Highlight Node.js controls: Node version (NVM/manager), package managers (npm, pnpm, yarn), process management (PM2/daemon status), startup scripts, environment variables (.env), and reverse proxy port mapping.
- Web Server Default: The root routing (/) should default straight to the application port without creating standard PHP vhost blocks or docroot directories like public_html by default.
This change would allow hosting providers on Enhance to compete directly against modern PaaS platforms (Railway, Render, Heroku) with a clean, high-ticket Developer Experience (DX).
Is there a recommended way to achieve this level of UI customization via existing roles/package overrides today, or is this planned on the roadmap?
Thanks!
