ok.. this is driving me bloody nuts, and AI in circles..
what exactly should be in the main.cf file when using smart host settings to relay mail from a webserver?
enhance 12.26.2 cpfence 4.0.6
the webserver only has the application and database roles.
it's configured, through the server settings in the panel, to use a central mailserver as a smart host.
using an authenticated account (port 587)
the helo name and the server hostname are both configured in the panel for the webserver.
wordpress sites are sending mail, locally submitted, which postfix is processing as phpuser@<FQDN>
AI is telling me that enhance should be rewriting that to the websites domain in the background..
but is getting blocked by dovecot being configured in main.cf but not installed on the server..
i'm getting a lot of these in the postfix logs:
postfix/smtpd[4190851]: warning: SASL: Connect to Dovecot auth socket 'inet:127.0.0.1:555' failed: Connection refused
and AI is telling me, i should remove these lines from main.cf:
smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = no
smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot
smtpd_sasl_path = inet:127.0.0.1:555
smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header = yes
smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous
smtpd_sasl_local_domain = $myhostname
broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes
smtpd_sender_restrictions = reject_unknown_sender_domain
virtual_transport = lmtp:unix:dovecot-lmtp
smtpd_milters = inet:localhost:11332 unix:srs_milter/srs_milter.sock unix:opendkim/opendkim.sock
non_smtpd_milters = $smtpd_milters
yes.. i know it's easier to use an smtp plugin.... but i can't force everyone to do that..
i just want locally submiitted wordpress emails to get sent properly, using either it's default wordpress@<domainname.tld> or whatever is set as the from address for that particular form..
at the moment, it's logging into the mailserver using the smart host configred login, but mails are getting rejected by it because it doesn't like <phpuser>@<HOST FQDN> as the from address..
