Hi everyone,
Some of you know us from cPFence. Today we're sharing something we've been working on for a while: ClientFence, a free and open-source billing and client portal built for hosts who run Enhance.
We started it for our own business. We wanted billing that works properly with Enhance and that we could fully control, so we built it. It runs our own client portal today, and the code is now on GitHub for anyone to use.
What you get
- Deep Enhance integration. Sell your Enhance plans as products. Accounts are created, suspended, unsuspended and terminated automatically. Each hosting account gets its own page in the client area with usage, DNS checks and one-click sign-in to Enhance.
- Mailboxes in the client area. Your clients can create mailboxes and forwarders, change passwords and sizes, set automatic replies and find their mail app settings, without opening the control panel.
- Move from WHMCS in one import. Clients, services, domains, invoices, taxes, promotions and tickets (with attachments) come over with the same IDs and invoice numbers. Two-factor sign-in carries over too.
- Features you'd normally pay for. Two-factor and Google sign-in, quotes, configurable options, prorated upgrades, 10 financial reports with MRR, email-to-ticket, ticket merge, a network status page, 7 registrar integrations, off-server database backups, and one-click updates with a backup first and automatic rollback.
- Your brand on everything. Your logo and colors on every page, PDF invoice and all 65 emails, with light and dark modes.
- 30 languages, including right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Hebrew and Persian.
- No telemetry. It checks clientfence.com once a day for new releases and sends nothing about your site.
Not just a FOSSBilling fork
ClientFence started from FOSSBilling 0.8.8. Since then it has been through 47 rounds of independent testing and code review: 661 issues fixed (269 of them critical or high severity) and 54 features FOSSBilling doesn't have. It's built and secured by the same team behind cPFence.
A few questions we keep getting
Is ClientFence really free?
Yes. It's released under the Apache License 2.0 and there's no licence fee. You run it on your own server.
Is it secure and ready for production?
We already run ClientFence in production for our own business, Linkers Gate, and plan to move cPFence billing to it soon. Our team has done extensive penetration testing and code review, fixing security issues and hardening the platform along the way.
That said, our testing covered our own stack and servers. Please test it properly on your own setup before you go live. Security is an ongoing effort, so if you find something, report it privately. The more eyes on the code, the better.
Can I move from WHMCS?
Yes. The WHMCS import brings your clients, services, domains, invoices, payments and tickets into a fresh install and keeps your WHMCS IDs and invoice numbers. It only reads WHMCS, so nothing changes there and nothing is emailed or charged. Here's the import guide.
Where do I get help?
Bug reports go to GitHub Issues, and questions to the ClientFence forum. Since it's free, there's no ticket support.
More answers are in the FAQ.
Try it
We'd love to hear what you think, especially if you're running Enhance with WHMCS today. Feedback, bug reports and feature ideas are all welcome.
Thanks,
The cPFence team
ClientFence is an independent product. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or partnered with Enhance.
