Disabling roles for websites

When adding a website as an admin it allows you to select the server for each application roles for the website or use the default.

Would it be possible to add an option of 'None' for each application role to allow that application role to be disabled for that website. Eg if there are some websites that I don't want to have email or be backed up then instead of selecting a server for these roles I would select 'None".

This is an interesting feature request. It's potentially possible, although I should say that no resources are expended by a website simply being mapped to an email server. If you set up your hosting packages with 0 mailboxes and 0 forwarders then the customer will not be able to use email regardless of the website having an email server mapped.

Is this something other customers would find useful?

My request stems more from a backup perspective. I have added an admin website (therefore unable to assign it to a package) and I do not want the files being stored on it being backed up.

Yes I too thought of this as I don't have any customers set on one of my estates, as of now anyway. I'd not even really bothered with packages. Therefore most my sites don't require email, so stopping email being setup, dns mapped etc.. It's extra stuff that needn't be there. If added to a role it could be configured and ready later on if the need changed. So for the minimalist. +1

I believe in 2023 it isn't a good practice for small businesses to offer email. Too many threats, hacks, etc... Email is like a bank account and you need minimal infrastructure and knowledge to handle it ethically.

You can completely uninstall all email functionality if you don't want to offer it. If your packages do not contain any email resources, no email options should be shown to your customers.
