I think this might have been mentioned before, but it would be great if there was an option to update all servers.

Do you mean to update the Enhance software or the general apt packages on the system?

Adam I was referring to Enhance software, especially appcd since it has to be done individually for each server. But if way in the future you could find a way to do apt packages as well, that would be a very nice to have.

The best option would be to update both as I do not see it very hard for a button to trigger updates for any of them

When you perform a core platform update, Enhance will update any appcd instances which are below the minimum version required for the new core version. This in turn will update any dependencies.

You also have the option to use unattended upgrades in Ubuntu to update the appcd package and any other system packages.

In the near future we will add bulk update functionality for appcd to the UI.

Hi,

Trying to understand the best way to keep my Enhance servers updated.

What I learn until now is below. Please anyone tell me if I’m correct, and what is your best advice. I will not run Ubuntu Pro or Kernelcare.

1- The Ubuntu OS on all Enhance servers can be updated anytime, without risk of breaking, using apt update& apt upgrade

2- Is recommended to enable on all servers the automatic Security Ubuntu Unattended Updates. This way Ubuntu OS security updates are done automatic and safely.

3- If automatic Security Ubuntu Unattended Updates are enable, besides Ubuntu updates, the server will also automatic update the Enhance Appcd when a new version is released. So, we just have to manually update Enhance Core when a new version is available.

I think this is correct. For your third point, if I understand the roadmap correctly, starting from version 12 'Enhance Core' like you call it would become an apt package itself, so it will also be updated then. But we first need to see this will be included in version 12 of course. 😉
