More backup settings for each hosting package, individually determined [LOGGED]

Hi Enhance Team!
I think hosting owners need more backup options set up for each hosting package.

Current settings in "hosting package":

Allow backups - Allow customers to view system generated backups in their account.
Allow manual backups - Allow customers to make on demand backups from within their account
Allow self restore backups - Allow customer to restore individual files, mailboxes and whole sites.

Additional settings

Maximum backup retention - The length of time a backup is stored before it is deleted from the backup service.
Max backup age (Hours) - The maximum time between backups of a website.

Additional variables

Maximum backup retention - 3 days
I think that the option of an additional setting for 3 days is needed.

Exemple use:
package1 - 3 day retention backups every 24h
package2- 7 day retention backups every 12h
package3- 14 day retention backups every 8h
package4 - 30 day retention backups every 6h

Hi AdamM Thanks for sharing your request. I can see how a 'Maximum backup retention' setting on a per package level would be really useful. I can see this feature is already logged for consideration - I'll keep you posted on any status changes.

AdamM Hi Adam, This feature has been logged and will be developed at some point. When development time has been allocated to this feature it will appear on the roadmap.

Not yet prasad0889. S3 is a separate feature which can be run as an alternative to or alongside the Enhance backup system.

I'll update the status of this thread as soon as the feature is roadmapped.

Super happy to read that. I was wondering whether it would replace or not Enhance the backup system.
This will give us two backups. We can resell the second made through S3 as a disaster backup add-on.

@Adrien I will stick to disk volume backups. It will probably be cheaper for me. In addition, in s3 there is also the transfer traffic which at large scale can consume a lot of $

Exactly. I won't use it too unless I'm able to sell it which won't happen ;-) And we can also play with both retention and frequency. Maybe use S3 for 1 weekly disaster backup.

@AdamM and @Adrien, Cloudflare R2 is a very good S3 compatible solution. For around $7 per TB, with no egress fees, you can definitely try it.

I already use them for my DNS, so not sure I will give them my backups.

Also seeing the whole world using CF makes me a little worried sometimes in case of an outage.

Adrien Cloudflare outages are very rare like once in a year or two maybe, and that too for a very short time, maybe around 5-10 minutes.

other alternatives for S3 are backblaze and wasabi.

is worth seeing all options.

Wasabi can be a great option as egress will be very less, only sometimes someone will want a restore.
