Server Monitoring & Notification

I'm thinking about setting up Zabbix. I used it years ago and back then it was a big pain in the arse to setup, but it worked. Checking over their site looks like it's come quite a ways and might be perfect.

Anyone else have a Zabbix install optimized for Enhance environment w/docker? Or maybe a SaaS solution that's not super expensive that works good? What I'm using now is just a bit too generic, and doesn't store history very long, so looking for something with a bit "more" 🤔

xyzulu that looks promising! Nice pricing and looks like they just came out with a mobile app. Have you used them much? I will give it a go when I'm back to the grind Monday 🙂

It's actually free if you choose the correct option.
I've used it for a while.. not sure how well it works on Enhance containers.. but I will get around to testing sometime.

I have netdata on one of my estates right now as I was diagnosing something. It works pretty well and it will drill down to show which PHP container is using X resource. i.e. client sites PHP processing. A full integration would be cool, but at a push this works nicely. If you self-host it, then it's 100% free, the Cloud hosting is free for up to 5 nodes I think.

Scroll down to USERS, then you can see the memory footprint or cpu pressure from each user container. Very valuable for diagnosis.

Yes. Currently I have two servers in one estate, I've got a cloud account of Netdata and attached both nodes.

Netdata can be massively overwhelming in it's granularity. Right now it's a game changer, as I am getting horrible CPU spikes and I didn't know why, I can see a spike in the enhance performance charts and go explore with Netdata,. It turned out to be an old client site that's desperately in need of rebuilding, causing some nasty behaviour and my database not being as so well tuned as I thought. A DB tune has reduced the number of spikes significantly, almost no backlog waiting to write to disk any more. The odd spike still happens, but again, it's a very unoptimised website that needs a lot of TLC. (sadly not right now either)

Netdata (cloud version at least) also can run "correlations" which can be super useful. Ie the cloud system can detect abnormal metrics and combine them in a simple report type format.

@JohnB Yeah, I also got some nice email alerts that the backup volume for btrfs was approaching 96% full. Allowing me to proactively expand the volume before real issues could take hold.

So far Netdata plays nicely with enhance, at least in small low traffic estate.

There is a notification center update roadmapped this month. We will have to see what and how the enhance team is implementing it.

I setup netdata for one of my test hosting nodes today. The amount of data in awesome. I'll have to install on one of my prod servers next and see what kind of data I can get.

I'm getting a random spike once or twice a day, load shoots from 8 average up to 30-40. I suspect it's one site having issues with backup, but nothing in error logs to give hints. We'll see if netdata can figure it out 🙂

twest We had an issue recently where load would jump to the 100's twice a day, turned out to be an issue with all versions of ESET10 and it was fixed with a downgrade to latest ESET9.

We use Netdata on almost all our servers. Would really like to see an integration with Enhance.

jeff What do you mean by integration? You just install netdata and that's it.. for a free service I don't think netdata is going to easily allow their dashboard to be shown in enhance.. (yes, there are paid options).

I had to remove netdata when I last tried it because is caused resource spikes and almost rendered one of my nodes inaccessible.

Upon uninstalling, the resources returned to normal.

I would love to use something like netdata to get more details about the performance of my nodes.

tecreasey Interesting - I have noticed a significant jump in resource usage after installation of the Linux monitoring module.

just installed netdata. oh man, so much data in few minutes. 🙂 seems to be a great monitoring solution.
