Hi, what results are you achieving on your servers with Enhance? For WordPress testing, I use the WP Benchmark tool plugin. After some minor server optimizations with the Enhance panel, I achieve such results, which in my opinion are very good.

xyzulu definitely would want to be optimizing Apache or Litespeed configs. If On Apache, then also want to be optimizing php-fpm as well. There's some nice old threads with some detailed talks about optimizing Apache/php, worth checking out if you haven't touched them yet (fyi, configs for apache can be persistent by adding them to the ModSecurity conf, lol).

I'm very familiar with apache.. nginx and openlitespeed (enhance is working on giving us the tools we need for this). While I am familiar with mysql/mariadb I still learning the way Enhance has things configured. I'm working on that over the next few days.

So I ran these tests again (I have not done this in a while)
I have 5 web servers in 2 enhance clusters.
All servers are AMD rzyen CPU's with NVme drives.

These servers are running Apache and MariaDB stock, out of the box, Enhance install.
(No tweaks to apace or MariaDB)
(WHen I do tweak MariaDB I get all 9's and 10's in the db category)

I have Redis turned off when doing this test to get raw performance.

Web Server1 - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X - GeekBench Single core score 2221
Web Server2 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - GeekBench Single core score 2130
Web Server3 - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X - GeekBench Single core score 2102
Test Server - AMD Ryzen 7 7700 - GeekBench Single core score 2764
Webserver - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X - GeekBench Single core score 3000

Each VPS is with a different host.

I noticed they are all generally the same results except for the Databases.

What caught my eye was the "Importing large amount of data to database"
3 of the servers they were close 3,3,3.47
1 server is 0.9 and the another server is 8.24

I wonder what is causing this discrepancy between 2 of these servers.
If the software is the same, then I would assume the hardware?

I guess I should reach out to these hosts and ask them what they are using for hardware.

DracoBlue I agree, and though I had done this years ago on Plesk servers, I was taking my sweet time on the Enhance web/app servers we setup. Recently we did some more serious optimization of mysql and apache, on 2 of the 6 web/app servers in the shared hosting portion of our setup, and our scores went from 6.4 to 9.4 on older Epyc hardware. Big difference. We will be rolling out optimizations to remaining servers over the next several weekends.

I am just curious to know why the vast differences in performance.

On another server today I managed to reach - Local file copy and access speed - 43478 MB/s
This is not fake, of course. In this test 3 block storage was used mounted for Enhance.

Strange, as this server with NVMe drives in RAID-1 seems to achieve a higher 'local file copy and access speed' at 47619 MB/s

Software raid 1? What kind of disks are these?
It's strange because I can't achieve this in raid 1 on NVMe.
Please show the entire result, not just a section.

AdamM yes, these are in software raid 1. The other disk performance measurements aren't as good as your earlier result, but for some reason I'm achieving high local file copy results. I can't remember what NVMe drives we have in this server as we generally use a mixture for reliability reasons, I'll take a look shortly and will report back.

Full results:

This test is on our public WP test installation so it's limited to 1vCPU and 1GB memory with other customers also on this server. I just did another test and achieved over 55000MB/s this time.

I have done kernel optimisations on this server, but nothing that should have a increase on disk speed.

AdamM does the enhance-package the site you're testing have limits set for the io? That would for sure prevent it from running at higher levels to see what the max potential is. Just an idea 🙂

It is very strange that I have different results. What number of drives do you have ? just 2 in raid1 ? Did you mount an extra disk for var/www for example ?
