Restore Backup to another server

Sorry if this has been answered before but I can't seem to find an answer to what I hope to be a simple question.

I'm new to enhance and currently testing different scenarios. One area I can't seem to figure out is how to restore website backups to another server from which they were created. Let's say I have web01 and web02 application servers. Website.com is currently hosted on web01. If web01 were to go offline due to datacenter disaster and I needed to restore website.com to web02 to get it back online. How would I accomplish this? The currently UI doesn't seem to allow for this, unless I am missing something.

This is a critical need for us as we dealt with this exact scenario last summer with the Evocative datacenter fire in NJ. We had a webserver that we couldn't access and couldn't restore. We backups of all the sites, but restoring them had to be done manually.

I believe you need to mark the old web server as decommissioned in Enhance. Then you can restore the backups to another server.

You are correct. I just tested by decommissioning a test server. Once decommissioned, the process is to "move a website." This automatically restores from the most recent backup. I wish there was an option to do this without decommissioning a server. But it's pretty slick nevertheless.

xtego just make sure your backup server and control panel server are in a different DC from your app/DB hosting servers and you'll be all set, lots of protection 🙂

twest Yup, that's what I did. One more question: what happens if I lose a dns server? How do I rebuild one of those in the event of a disaster?

Just add that role to another server and it will become another DNS server.
