In this month, the latest LTS version of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will be released. According to information found on the forum, it seems that it will be possible to easily upgrade from 22.04 LTS to 24.04 LTS using sudo do-release-upgrade. It's best to wait for the official announcement from the Enhance team after rigorous testing. Who will be upgrading to 24.04 and who will wait for 24.04.1?

Maybe I'll spin a VPS for testing 24.04 with Enhance. But will definitely wait for 24.04.01 for production servers.

Of course, I'm also waiting and will make upgrade to Ubuntu 24. The new kernel 6.8 should bring an increase in performance on servers.

Is it safe to do a fresh install of Enhance onto 24.04? I’m about ti dive into Enhance, I would rather deploy Ubuntu 24.04 off the bat, rather than 22.02, and then do an upgrade.

I wouldn't test this until Enhance says its ready. Can't really get accurate benchmarks or any testing until Enhance's changes are made.

Won't upgrade anything in production until at least a couple of months after the official enhance release. Gives time for others to run across any possible issues whether they be in Enhance or Ubuntu.

99% of the time it will be okay. However, I've learned the hard way that being quick to do major OS/Software updates for features or performance isn't worth the risk to uptime.

I was surprised to see something basic as Fail2ban being officially broken on 24.04, on a fresh install for something non-Enhance related.

Imagine the things that can go wrong with dependencies of custom software like Enhance.

So, feel free to try and report back the issues, as I'm still curious, but not willing to waste time on it

I would not recommend using 24.04 until we announce official support.

Hi,

My entire Enhance cluster (CP, DNS, BACKUP) is using Ubuntu 22.04 and I'm not planning to update anytime soon.

Anyway, I need to deploy some new web servers (APP+DB), and wanted to try Ubuntu 24.04. Any issue on having the entire Enhance stack using 22.04 mixed with some 24.04 web servers?
