i believe the word minor here would create an unnecessary confusion nor it would do any good.
mike A minor release is intended for bug fixes, enhancements, and security patches. WordPress refers to it in this manner, and the name cannot be changed.
These are pulled from Wordpress? So 6 to 7 are major.
U cannot imagine what these minor updates are capable of. 2 of my clients updated and their websites … pouff stopped working.
Guess this is just Wordpress.
mike Minor updates shouldn't break websites and you should update when there is a minor release.
You should be careful when updating to a major release but I've never heard of websites getting problems because of a minor release.
mike Minor releases generally don't introduce new features or core updates. They mainly focus on bug fixes, security enhancements and minor improvements.
ivansalloum in the wordpress world 6.4 to 6.5 is not a minor update 🙂
6.5 to 6.5.1 is minor
Based on experience with Wordpress and not versioning cookbook.
mike Ah I see what you mean. It is because you haven’t updated to 6.5 at all. You mean it shouldn’t show you this notice.
ivansalloum The problem is not me as i know what i am doing. Users usually see minor update and go ahead and update.
As u see in the picture i have set minor updates to update automatically. if it was a minor update then this should have been updated automatically but as we know this is not a minor one so the term minor is wrong.
mike It is minor if you have already updated to 6.5 but you still using the 6.4 version.
