Run Redis as Unix socket instead of TCP

All we know is Unix sockets operate at a lower level OSI model layer than TCP sockets so they should be faster.

When I ran some basic Redis unix socket benchmarks I found the results quite surprising – unix sockets were 25% faster than TCP sockets for Redis.

So, I request Redis connect as Unix socket on Enhance server instead of TCP. We can see Redis runs as Unix socket on Cpanel or DirectAdmin.

You have access to the redis.conf so you could do this now. I believe the parameter is unixsocket. I would suggest using a path in /tmp. Just restart the PHP container via the UI after making the change.

It's better if it's the default Redis connect in Enhance

And can I connect to Mysql as Unix socket?, if yes, that is the path?

I tried configuring Redis to let it run as Unixsocket, but I can't make it work.

Hopefully, Enhance team will take a look at this feature in the future to improve Redis to surpass competitors

MySQL will always use a unix socket if you are connecting to "localhost" with PHP or using the MySQL CLI. The path is /run/mysqld/mysqld.sock but there is no need to manually specify this.

tomtr202 I was trying unixsocket redis setup for days now, i had no issues setting it up. How you setting it can you please share so i can see if i can be of any help!

I tried to set some Redis configs for my single website at /var/www/ab60a5b6-8b6c-493e-b4ed-341028c9eb55/redis.conf

Then restart the container, but no redis.socket created

Could you please tell me how you do that?

Why are you editing config in direct file manager, use enhance for it, and use following configuration which i use:

port 0
bind 127.0.0.1
unixsocket /tmp/redis.sock
unixsocketperm 755

I tried this, but then Lightspeed Cache says Redis is not working, even after I changed it to port 0.
Is this normal?

How are you guys doing it?

PDudeP After you have made the changes that pratik_asabe outlined you then need to change the WordPress -> LiteSpeed -> Cache -> Object settings to:
Object Cache: On
Method: Redis
Host: /tmp/redis.sock
Port: 0

And the connection should pass after saving.

If not, try restarting your PHP container
