Backup naming

Currently, backup folders are named after the website's number (code), which is not easy to find in the CP. My suggestion is that backup folders should also include the domain name. Currently, the folder name is: 24aba2ee-6eb0-4774-9833-ce18eee88e70

After modification, it would be: example.com-24aba2ee-6eb0-4774-9833-ce18eee88e70

DracoBlue This is a seemingly simple modification that would be quite useful.

I think it should be the website primary domain at the time of backup. If its changed we can fall back on the ID.

or at least the username of the website that we use for SSH, because the main domain can be changed.

Wouldn't be better simply doing that with symlinks ?
example.com -> 24aba2ee-6eb0-4774-9833-ce18eee88e70
instead of changing the directory structure...
Shouldn't be hard for the devs to implement...

What if you removed the original domain and then added a new one? In that case your suggestion requires renaming of then directory.

xyzulu Good point I hadn't thought of that. Like the idea of symlinks by @kess as it would solve all of these problems.

We could actually do this now with a script that takes calls the API to get domain names and creates the symlinks.

Is this really an important issue? I mean.. how hard is it to grep for the domain name etc (in the rare event you need to manually browse backups outside of Enhance)

xyzulu This is not a priority suggestion, but I'm curious how the panel replication will work, etc. Without the domain name, it will be hard to verify which site is which just from the page code. I'm curious to see how the panel replication will function and whether it will be possible to restore it from a backup or only by transferring from one panel to a new panel.

Lets wait for enhance to finish the "under the hood changes" that are scheduled. I believe their plates are full already.

kess's idea "if doable" is nice using symlinks as looking at a string of characters is not that nice.

Recently I had to restore a deleted website. The easiest method was to use this command to search in backups:
grep ebay /backups/*/backup-subvolume/home/public_html/wp-config.php
where ebay is the site that you are looking for.

It will be quite cumbersome to search through a stack of backups with difficult-to-identify names. There could be hundreds of backups from dozens of websites
