Did anyone tried to upgrade the OLS manually?
What's the process can you share?

DracoBlue Owwwwww, I hadn't checked. I assumed they provide updates and security patches. Since EnhancePanel customizes the server configuration for security, if they don't offer updates and patches, it could lead to a major disaster, which is the opposite of security goal.

Actually, many of us prefer it this way. We all handle server/software updates ourselves. You do need to be a server admin (or employ one) to run a hosting business, even with Enhance.

While Enhance isolates sites really well, it doesn't do any server hardening beyond that unless I missed something.

JohnB UFW rules are about the only "hardening" I can think of aside from containerisation.

Are apache/ols/lse/nginx updates completely manual? I had the impression the important docker containers, and the PHP modules were take care of regularly through appcd/Enhance and regular apt updates.

What about MariaDB/MySQL and components for mail and backup?

Can someone enlighten me and point me to the documentation that covers this please?

I talked to Adam, and updates for services like the database and web server will likely be possible in one of the 12.x versions.

Then it's not happening soon; we might have to wait a long, long time—days, months, years.

Web servers are easy to update (check with support if you want to be sure)
MySQL/mariadb not quite as straightforward. Again, check with support or wait for the feature being added.

Right now when a role is added to a server the latest docker container is pulled/setup. So you could always remove a role (delete the dangling containers) and the add it back. In the case of MySQL this means moving the database and then copying them back again.

We updated nginx to the latest release and got deprecated directive all over the logs. We wrote a script to adjust the existing.

Can one of the server admins here advise us how to prevent this from happening on new websites 😊
