Support for Dolt DB (Version Controlled MySQL)

Hello,

I would like to see if Enhance can intergrate with Dolt DB, which is a database project that aims for 100% compatibility with MySQL while also integrating version control into the database. It's essentially MySQL combined with Git and allows for branching and committing within a database, along with a host of other features. It's meant to be a drop-in replacement for MySQL.

I would like to see if Enhance can support Dolt as an option in addition to MySQL and MariaDB. This would be a cool feature for clients and would also attract developers to Enhanced powered hosting. For instance, I'm currently attempting to build a WordPress plugin to integrate WordPress with Dolt and bring full version control to WordPress, but there's no where for me to host my project since there isn't any hosting that supports Dolt unless you buy theirs or roll your own.

I'm hoping this is something that can be integrated with Enhance since Dolt is meant to be a drop in replacement for MySQL and I think it would be a great feature to add and could open the door to more application types running on Enhance based hosting.

This looks like an exciting project. We can certainly consider a feature request for integration.

Dolt looks cool. I doubt it could handle a busy site but it could be great for testing, troubleshooting and malware analysis. Could easily install a plugin (or malware) and see all DB changes easily. See what an update has messed up etc.

Do you have any sites that run on it that are mid to heavy traffic that maybe you'd be willing to share? Their case studies section is lacking

JohnB I haven't actually used Dolt in a production site yet, mainly due to lack of hosting availability, however in talking with the folks over at Dolt they said this:

Sounds like they are a little skeptical about Dolt's ability to scale, but we have data to show we aren't much slower than MySQL. Maybe they just need convincing.

This was posted in their Discord Server when I brought up this thread. The Dolt admins are very active over there and I'm sure they would be happy to provide that data.
