xyzulu I don't disagree with the stability they brought to the project, I'm more annoyed at how it's been overused as a CMS.
Imagine a world where Ford gave away their Fusion cars for free, but if you needed to do real work, you had to buy the F150. An entire ecosystem would pop up where you could buy anything you wanted to attach to a Fusion. Front loader scoops, snow plows, towing hitches, etc. But at the end of the day, it's still a Fusion frame and engine.
I feel like this is what WP has become. People will eschew better CMS platforms that include out of the box many of the things they have to add many numerous plugins to WP to accomplish, including themes that overhaul the UI and change how the product actually operates.
It's a great blog platform, and every release, I wait to see if Automatic will change things and acknowledge how the world is using it as a CMS that they tack on tons of plugins too, but alas, they double down on the blog engine part.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get back on my trusty steed, Rocinante and joust some more windmills.
