But based on my experience running team of 10 people over few years now I think that the update will be in January not December
You have your team working hard on update. And you want to 2 weeks before one of the biggest holidays of year stress them with pushing extremely large update to PROD?
Well, sure. Every company handles that their own way. I wouldn't do that to my people. That's all.
