SMTP server hostname

Hello everyone,
I would like to know how everyone is handling the SMTP server hostname. If a client has their SMTP server for emails set as something like server100.domain.com, then if the website is moved to another server, the client also needs to update the SMTP entry in their mail settings. This isn’t ideal. Does anyone have ideas or solutions for how you are handling this?

the smtp server should be mail.theirdomanname.com, it doesn't matter if you move the website, nothing needs to change in their mail settings.

I would like to modify this template so that each client sees their own specific settings (e.g., mail.domain.com instead of a generic hostname). How is that possible?

As @grradmin points out, use mail.customerdomain.com.

mail.customerdomain.com is automatically added by the Enhance DNS template and will also work seemless if you use "Request Let's Encrypt certificate for mail". Be aware of the auto-discovery function in Outlook, it will default to smtp.customerdomain.com for outgoing/SMTP which there is no valid SSL for (must be changed to mail.customerdomain.com in Outlook -settings)

lordon Just remove the website role for the hostname. E.g if your hostname for that server is host1.domain.com, go to websites and delete it. That will default to users having email settings related to their domain name and not the server hostname.

Same thing when they click the login to webmail, if you want the default roundcube to be mail.theirdomain.com, then remove the webmail website on the control panel. But then that means they will not access webmail / roundcube if propagation for their domain is not complete.
