I wonder if would be possible to mount s3 storage as a directory and then use it for backups on the backup server

I don't know if it will work or not, but make sure your S3 provider doesn't bill you for the API.

gmakhs i don't think it'll work as the 'mount type' will not be ext4, s3fs-fuse like tools gives you flexibility to mount s3 bucket as mount point to folder but it will not be recognized as ext4, if i recall it might be s3fs type i guess idr now i played with it years ago....

gmakhs you are going about this the hard/wrong way. If you insist on s3, backup to Enhance, and then send a copy to s3 of the latest snapshot. You can do this is with kopia and many other tools. I’ve posted before on these forums the steps to use kopia.
We find rsync is even better. There are posts from @cPFence with a link to a script that will backup your backups to another location.
