Migration from VPS to new VPS

DracoBlue According to official guide there's no way migrate cp role 'along with the websites', you have to move websites to another server temporarily and then move cp as per the guide and move websites back to cp server..

That's how we did it..

pratik_asabe It's sad that Enhance still has such terrible migration capabilities after such a long time. It seems that I will have to wait for the feature that allows downloading backups and importing them into a new cluster.

DracoBlue Yes, they are off track these days, I don't have confidence bringing new clients over to my cluster, im afraid its currently became a niche type of hosting product in which can only bring 'managed' clients and not cpanel/plesk or even DA users, they'll be pissed when they can't find even basic features they're used to use on daily basis (I'm gonna piss some users off at this point but tbh, idgf!)

@DracoBlue above @adil provided you the steps. It's very easy to migrate websites and email.. just a few clicks.. and you can do them all at the same time. Have you even done a test move of own website? It's so simple...

As for the Control Panel, that is a manual step.. but.. why do you run everything on one VPS? Ideally you want the control panel on its own server.

If you stick with the same hoster, it's an option. Otherwise, follow this guide, and in 30 minutes or less your done.

It is intended for experienced systems administrators only.

For anyone reading this thread in the future.. please let me correct an underlying thread of misinformation here.

You DO NOT need to rely on your VPS provider snapshots with Enhance (they are a good backup however). Enhance is designed to be used on a cluster (with a separate backup server and best practise a separate control panel server), rather than a single server. Instead, use the official documentation here: https://enhance.com/docs/server-management/disaster-recovery.html and here https://enhance.com/docs/advanced/control-panel-migration.html

Yes, it's not perfect.. but DO NOT incorrectly assume Enhance is only suited to a single server.. among other things. If you do setup everything on a single server you will have issues.

xyzulu It’s true, but if someone uses only one VPS server, there is no other option otherwise, they would have to have two VPS servers, with the control panel on one and the websites on the other. As you can see, there is a feature under development that allows downloading website backups and importing them to a new cluster, so after this update, the process will be simplified.

But still time consuming and painful (downtime). Instead, if your control server was on a separate server.. no pain. Anyway, you do what you need to, I’m just trying to make sure future readers of this thread don’t think moving servers with Enahnce is hard.
