Disable backups for one domain or subdomain?

Is it possible to disable backup for particular websites?

I want to migrate a Nextcloud instance with huge data. The /var/www directory is a monted volume where is enough space an is still backupped externally . The /backups directory would grow so the whole disk would be full.

I thought about moving the backup role of that site to nirvana (not supported) or set the immutable bit to /backups/xxx directory or symlink /backups/xxx to /dev/null or something?

Major7 you should be able to migrate the website without selecting backup server if this helps

Yes, this is how we do it. We shared a guide about it on the cPFence community. Just immute that dir and you’re good to go.

Unfortunately, backups are still made even though the “Allow backups” checkbox in the package is not checked.

I think all websites are backed up, this checkbox only determines whether the customer can see the backup tab or not.

Backups Exclude websites from backup. Exclude directories from backup. Incremental backups using other storage kinds (FTP/SSH).

Aliysa_Enhance Per website method is interesting, but how it will work for the package? will the admins have to set it manually? what happens if the user deletes and adds the website again ? Is not better to be on the package plan or working with some limits ? like websites over 10 gb backup only DB or smth like that?

Can we get a discussion about it in the community so everyone is happy with the feature and also maybe save you some dev time?

Well we can continue that chat here..
if a user deletes a website and re-adds them.. there should be no remaining backup. It is their problem.
How do you propose a package/plan Bakcup would work?
If a customer has 100 sites - are they going to backup 100 sites in 1 go? Makes no sense.
Per website level is definitely the way to go.

I personally think the limitations would be a horrid idea, what do you do if a customer has 10.1GB they just don't get backups? That is too risky.

The ability to disable on a package level is still an open feature request - this is considered a separate feature all together.

The plan was to position disable website as an override. That means it would only be available to admins and would sit under Websites > Overrides.
