New features, or rather their lack.

Hi, I’m not sure if I’m overreacting, but it’s been several months since the release of version 12.0.0, and there still aren’t many new features, just a few small ones. Where are the features that people have been waiting for for so long? I thought that once version 12.0.0 was released, things would speed up, but everything is still slow. Version 12.0.0 was released in February, and we’re almost halfway through the year with practically nothing new, except for a few minor features.

DracoBlue it’s been like 5 years since they started to get to v11 - now in the 6th year, seems like they will need another 4 years to complete their list of upcoming features… you are not overreacting.

No you're not, still many basic features missing all panels have from the start.
There has only been minor bug fixes and enhancements since V12 release, I'm not including PHP 5 and other legacy versions as features because they only are relevant to a very select few. PHP for non LSPHP users are around every 3 -5 months.

I installed a test vps with one of the free panels, no names but it has nginx, varnish and redis. the site speed is so much faster,

Since v12 updates were supposed to be faster, but it has become like it was when struggling to get v12 out. Perhaps there are underlying issues we do not know about causing these delays and would suggest why the roadmap change was made.

I think they’ve gone backwards to be honest, I wish I hadn’t have upgraded to the latest version, backups seem unstable, I never had so many issues with backups till the latest version, constant failing for random reasons, I never touched my backup solution on other panels but Enhance it’s every week. The lack of clear logging on the control panel and broken toast messages with the very minor updates keeps me thinking we don’t seem to be going anywhere sadly.

Zoinkies Backups have problems for sure. Started a new backup server because the first one was filling up way too fast, and moving website backups fail frequently (yeah they're on huge 15/20 TB servers with HDDs) but the backups end up on the second server while the role stays on the previous one, and both backup directories are on each backup server. It's definitely a problem. For those websites the Backups menu show no backups, but luckily they are stored daily, just on the wrong backup role. It's so weird...

But I remain loyal to Enhance. It's worlds better than cPanel and I suppose because we've been around for so long our members are old school just like me lol (yeah I'm an old curmudgeon.)

Development has definitely slowed down significantly lately, no doubt about that. It’s a real issue for those waiting on specific features like Node.js. Luckily for us, we didn’t switch to Enhance until all the main features we needed were already in place.

V12 backups are very stable and working well — we've been using them heavily in production across several clusters with large sites and frequent restorations, and they've never let us down. Most issues we’ve seen come from using the outdated S3 backup system instead of incremental backups, non-standard setups Enhance wasn’t fully tested on, and / or low-quality VPS/server providers. Once those are addressed, everything works as expected.

Moving backups can cause all sorts of issues when handling large amounts of data, and you’ll most likely end up with broken backups. Remove the backup role, then start fresh with a good Ext4 box and save yourself the hassle.

I’m currently in the process of purchasing another hosting provider and we already have a few hundred clients. But because of these reasons, we are not migrating anything from DirectAdmin

To be honest, we had many issues with v11. Everytime we installed web server or database it would fail. Also backups were issue. And many other things.

I am really happy with v12. Except few issues here and there, everything runs fine and support is responding quickly and helps a ton. Currently we k ow of 1 bug with backups and memory, which should be fixed in near future.

For me, I would appreciate more API endpoints and more information about status of things (e.g. that backup is being created).

That said, I need to point out that we've build our own admin panel on top of enhance since we missed package upgrades (we have package for every hosting plan), bunny dns, export backups, better impersonation,real time per webapp RAM and CPU monitoring and couple others. And works like a charm. We switched from RunCloud and I do not regret it.
