There are people who don't want to be on the latest version of enhance, can be due to API changes or other reasons .

We should be able to update php packages without updating enhance itself .

Have you even tried? You can do just this even now.

How are you updating other Ubuntu packages and security updates etc? Just do these ecp-php* packages the same way. Enhance release them separately. Nothing Enhance can do to separate things any more than they have.

I know @Aliysa_Enhance said "run apt update && apt upgrade on every server in your cluster". But just to make sure, to update PHP we must run the update command on ALL servers, including the ones that do not use or run PHP such as the DNS and Backup servers?

nqnoc well, you should be running apt updates on all your servers anyway.. but if you want to only install the php updates that were released, only install the ecp-php* packages on any servers that have them available to update (after running apt update).

xyzulu I have no issues with keeping servers updated. Just wanted to know if its a requirement or advised in any way to make the update on all servers, including the ones that do not run PHP (dns, backup).

I'm a little confused what you are asking.. but if after doing an apt update you see any ecp-php* packages that need updating (on any of your servers) you will want to update them.

All of that aside, you should (unless you have some strange setup like @gmakhs where they don't want to update/secure/patch Enhance) be following @Aliysa_Enhance suggestion in the first post of this thread. In fact, you should be checking your server frequently for updates to packages/kernels etc

xyzulu Let me try to be more clear:
Im not asking how I should manage our mantain my own servers regarding updates. I also know that servers should be keeped updated. That is not the point.

My question is specific to Enhance when just PHP updates are released without a new Enhance version. Like on this case. If you check the Enhance Release Notes page you will see that just on some (not all) releases there is the note/notice to update all servers.

Do we need to update ALL Enhance servers (including dns and backup) or just the servers where PHP is installed? If we dont update the DNS and Backup server will it cause any problems with Enhance? Thanks

If after doing an apt update you see any ecp-php* packages that need updating (on any of your servers) you will want to update them. I believe Enhance installs php packages on all servers when Enhance is installed.. but I might be wrong. Check with the command above and you will know.
