cPFence This. It's a shame to hear they're shutting down, but I hope they do release it under GPLv3. It's a damn good piece of software that has served the hosting community well for many years.

UFW + Fail2Ban is a good combination. You can do a lot with F2B 🙂

webdig Just to support the comment from @MarkD , cPGuard does not depend on CSF. Rather, we allow integration with CSF if it is already installed on the server. Based on the recent news, we are extending our firewall module to cover major functions in CSF, and we will extend the module based on feedback. The first version with the new firewall module is expected to launch in Aug.

They are calling themselves OpenCSF. Have the original devs released it under GPL?

imadsani Not sure, but I am under the impression that it's not yet released.

imadsani There is no official statement yet for their GPLv3 update. Unless they do it, it's not legal to maintain the code under a different stream. CSF is a great software...hope they will not let it die altogether.

imadsani hehe its actually my doing, I actually emailed them to thank them for all their efforts many years and requested permission to post there to keep the legacy going. They mentioned that they are working to opensource it and will put in their github. They told me they prefer not to have any of their content replicated anywhere. I have disabled those post till the gnu version is out. My intention is to get people like us that benefit so much but not giving back to contribute and make it better. I also recently start to sponsor our earnings to good opensource projects like https://paymenter.org/.
