"The hosting platform is currently updating" notice

Hello there,

At the top part of dashboard I can see message:

The hosting platform is currently updating
Performance and functionality may be temporarily affected
Admin dashboard is painfully slow, so are all websites hosted from the same server.

Is this real update going on in the background (hence slowdown) or it's just „placeholder” text?

Just started my first Enhance instance and after setting up and testing first website and going online this one starts to pop-up (as well as load ₉₀)

If it's a new installation then this definitely isn't normal. The message may show if the API call to /api/status fails entirely. It could be a network issue of some kind.

If you ping the server from your location, is there any packet loss? If you run "top", has the server used a lot of its swap space, is the iowait (wa) figure high?

Adam Not a network issue, it was my first guess as well.

I didn't check for packet loss, and I can't tell now, since everything is fine after reboot.
Didn't check iostat, load averaqe was ~ 90/90/90, all CPU's were at 100% obviously. Server did use some swap, but only around 50mb. There was plenty of unused memory.

I suspect that one of php scripts running via cron is poorly written. I have disabled every non-wordpress scheduled events and it is fine for now. If thats the case, I need to investigate this further on my own.

Given that this is just more or less generic text and there was no real update in the background and this notice can be triggered whenever api call fails (and it could fail since server was really unresponsive) I need to rethink package/website limits.
