xyzulu Yep, set at 8.1, which is what I was using on serverpilot where it still works. Also turned off opcache and even modsec.

Send a support ticket and we'll take a look. Ioncube is very common and should work without any special effort.

Adam I don't think it's an ioncube issue, because if I turn it off I don't even get the oops page.

I'm letting whmcs support chase this first, it's their software and getting errors should be this hard. I'll send in a ticket if they punt.

I've been using whmcs for over 10yrs and never had these kind of issues with a move but we'll see.

I'm playing with upmind, but seems like it take 20 extra clicks to do many same things. Still going to give it a go.

On OLS I have opcode cache enabled, memory limit of 1024M and max input vars at 9000 and have no issues with WHMCS. WHMCS support are pretty useless without wanting full access (We will never give due to privacy issues/security).

xyzulu I'm using apache. I don't mind them getting into the control panel to check. They can't login to the system because it won't even run! Running on Apache, btw.

But I understand what you're saying. I've given them all the pertinent info up front, but I expect all the basic questions assuming I can't spell php and not reading the initial info I gave them.

xyzulu Another fun thing, I tried posting to whmcs forums first, have had account since '08. My account marked 'Retired' and all the tech/troubleshooting forums are hidden when I'm logged in. Have a ticket in for that as well.

xyzulu You weren't kidding. I gave them the info but they didn't read it and just looke at the old url and the fact I have it in maintenance mode and they want me to resolve that first even though it's diff server and not the documentation I put in the ticket. An Oops white page is not the same as maintenance mode.

You will need the .htaccess WHMCS directives as well..
Are you doing a new install or a migration? If a new install (good for testing) I always prefer the cli method here: https://docs.whmcs.com/getting-started/installing-whmcs/install-on-the-command-line/

(I do updates the same way, via the cli)

xyzulu It's a migration, didn't think to try fresh install to test the environment. I don't have any nonstandard plugins, and I've moved lots of whmcs installs over the years so I think I need to step back to some basics.

I'll play around and let you know, I appreciate the input!

Just do it yourself.. I am sure it's installable.. others using Enhance run WHMCS as well..

I had some issues with WHMCS at the start, so I rolled back to php 7.4 at that time, and still run it under 7.4. There are also some issues with the IP that WHMCS sends when it calls home, and this also affects some other plugins.

Make sure you go over your ini file with a fine-tooth comb and check for proper syntax. Start with everything inside the web directory, then move out all the folders and files that WHMCS recommends in their security settings.

I also only run WHMCS on Apache.

WHMCS have a fix for that if you contact them.. it's something they can adjust on their end so a container IP change doesn't lead to the need to re-issue the license.

Are you on Ubuntu 24.04?
Because I added a fresh 24.04 to my cluster and a website that needs IonCube loader doesn't work.
Moving it back to a 22.04 and it works again.

Can this be related?

Running multiple WHMCS instanses on OLS, Ubuntu 24, php 8.1 & several custom plugins / hooks. No issues

mah1952 Our issue is with one specific plugin related to xcp-ng management. We will eventually move to 8.2 as that last hold-out is stabilized in the 8.x world. 🙂

So I'm feeling dumb, issue was a single quote in middle of my db password.

I'm still frustrated that nothing I did could get a php error log to appear or display. After whmcs support logged in, I don't know if they changed something, but a php error log did appear. But then I changed php version and the log was wiped.

In my case, ionCube was working, but only with PHP 7.4. With 8.1 and 8.2 it just didn't work on this server (with Ubuntu 24.04, although maybe not related).
After manually copying the loader files, as per @Adam 's instructions above, it started working.
